Jing Fu
The work of painter Jing Fu is coming to The Grocer’s Gallery on July 23.
After moving to Canada from the busy, crowded city of Shanghai, the young painter was quick to immerse herself in the bounteous space she discovered in central Ontario, where she shoots photographs and sketches as a prelude to executing her paintings.
Like her earlier work, her spring collection of oils and acrylics will feature the artist’s love of colour, along with her skillful use of texture and compositional strategies developed from her training in Chinese ink painting.
“I paid a very big price for freedom and fairness in my homeland,” she says, “but could not get it. I am very happy that Canada provides me with a fair environment to develop my dream, and that people here love my work.”
