Leanne Ryan Jordan

Leanne’s first encounters with clay as an art medium began in high school at Wexford Collegiate Institute in Scarborough, Ontario. She was very fortunate to have attended a school with an art program which included a fully equipped ceramic studio. She loved the ceramic classes, as they opened up her awareness to a new and challenging art form.

Leanne Ryan Jordan Pottery

In 1993 with a diverse portfolio of painting, photography, illustration, ceramics, and printmaking, she was able to attend The Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto. Leanne entered College without a definite path in mind and decided to do a General Studies so that she could experiment with a number of materials. While enrolled in General Studies, she was fascinated by the ceramics courses that she had chosen as electives. As a result, she changed to a Major Studies in Ceramics and spent her 3rd and 4th year of College focused on clay.

Today her journey with clay continues as she spends her time designing and making a series of delicate porcelain and stoneware pottery pieces. This pottery appeals to people looking for unique high quality hand crafted items that they can use to serve food, or display as art and enjoy in their daily lives.

The glaze finishes she uses are developed from specific glaze recipes and are made from raw materials. These glaze finishes are very durable and are food safe and oven and microwave safe. They may be used in the dishwasher but being one of a kind pieces, Leanne recommends washing them by hand.
